Carrick Pot De Fleur Pinot Noir 2019, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 17-Nov-2021
Moderate, ruby-red with a slight hint of brick, lighter on the rim. The nose is expressive, delicate nuances of floral melded with an amalgam of herb, underlined bruised plums, crab apple, red berries and a hint of spice. Medium-full bodied, the wine has a hauntingly alluring essence of vibrant fruit, cherries, red berries, crab apple, interweave bitter orange, dried red blossom, oregano and thyme. Spice nuances of black pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg attack on the lingering, persist to a long, perfumed finish. The wine is integrated and harmonious, quietly showing subtle power and strength. The mouthfeel is refined with supple, powdery tannin; lacy acidity provides a vigorous drive and length. This is a hauntingly enticing and harmonious Pinot Noir, perfectly in balance and refined. Match with roasted quail or stuffed pigeon over the next 3-5 years. Whole clusters fermented in four flowerpots, partially carbonic, fermented to 14% alc, matured in old oak and bottled by hand, unfined, unfiltered and without additions. BioGro organic certified. 19+/20 pts (96 pts) Nov 2021 RRP $36
