Carrick Organic The Magnetic Pinot Noir 2019, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 06-Jul-2022
Deep, ruby-red with a black core, even colour throughout. The bouquet shows depth and richness, penetrating aromas of blackberries, cherries and black plums, interweaving a dark earth element, dark herb and spice. Medium-full bodied, aromas of blackberries, cherries and plums enriched by rich thyme, earthy minerals and an amalgam of spice. The fruit shows concentration and depth, adorned by toasty spice and earth. Finely extracted smooth-grainy-textured tannins and lacy acidity lend a structured, sustained finish. This is a dark-fruited Pinot Noir with purity and a dark line of herb, earth and spice enrichments on a structured, smooth-grained mouthfeel. Match with roasted lamb and lamb fry over the next 8+ years. Fruit from a single vineyard, Abel clone, fermented to 14% alc, aged in oak for months, 15% new oak. 19/20 pts (95 pts) July 2022 RRP $65
