Carrick Organic Riesling 2019, Central Otago

Riesling from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 08-Sep-2021
Bright, even pale-yellow. The wine has subtle fine effervescent. The wine has a familiar bouquet and is softly full, nuances of citrus fruit of lime, mandarin and its zest, apple, stonefruit, elevated by a hint of petroleum and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied, off-dry to taste, aromas of mandarin and lime lead the palate with mouthwatering acidity, followed by zest, ripe peach and apple underlay, citrus blossoms and a touch of prickly spice. The wine possesses a lean and clean palate, driven by vibrant and thirst-quenching acidity; ripe fruit supports the breadth of the palate, unveil a little spice and linger with apple aromas to a long finish. This is a 'pick-me-up' Riesling with an impeccable balance of sugar and acidity, clean and bright, set the palate ready for food. Match with breakfast sausages and macaroni & cheese over the next 5+ years. Fermented in tank to 10.5% alc, 14.6g/l RS. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Sept 2021 RRP $28
