Carrick Organic Pinot Noir 2019, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 30-Sep-2022
Deep ruby-red with a dark purple shade, lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and pure in expression, sweet fruit of blackberry, cherry and plum entwined with pepper, thyme, vanilla, cinnamon and earth. Medium-bodied, aromas of black cherry and plum melded with a clay earthiness, layering with pepper, thyme, then vanilla and cinnamon, persist to a gentle, long finish. The fruit is concentrated, sweet and savoury with lively acid support. Supple, powdery tannin coated the palate in silk, unfolding earthy elements. This gentle, purely expressed Pinot Noir possesses balanced, sweet and savoury dark fruit, spice and herb layers on a dusty tannin line. Match with braised duck and pork over the next 5+ years. Handpicked, destemmed, wild fermented in tank to 14% alc, 22-26 days on skins, aged in oak for 9 months, 17% new oak. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Sep 2022 RRP $45
