Bright, pale yellow, even colour throughout. The nose is distinctive with a tanginess, opening up to talcum floral nuances, pear, quince and delicate spice. Medium-bodied, dry to taste, oily on the entry; aromas of pear and quince intermix apricot, white floral and a fine dusting of spice linger on the finish. A dusty mouthfeel carries talcum-like phenolic and lacy acidity throughout the palate to linearity. This is a harmonious Pinot Gris with a piquant acid line, detailed fruit and fine-textured. Match with lemongrass pork chops and pan-fried fish over the next 3-5 years. Handpicked, wild fermented in old oak barrels (55%) and the balance in tank. The barrel portion aged for 7 months, tank portion halted with some residual sugar. The finished wine has 13% alc, 3.5 g/l RS. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Feb 2022 RRP $28
