Carrick Billet-Doux Pinot Noir 2021, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 30-Sep-2022
Full, deep ruby-black with a purple hue, lighter on edge. The nose is soft and refined, penetrating an earthy undertone with blackberry, cherry, thyme, and baking spices. Medium-bodied, savoury and mineral at core, blackberry and cherry melded with thyme, cinnamon and vanilla. The mouthfeel is silky with dusty fine tannins, reflected earthy and savoury elements. Gentle acidity integrated with fruit and spices lends an elegant, peppery finish. This savoury Pinot Noir shows a raw and earthy expression underlying black fruit, thyme and baking spices on a dusty palate. Match with lamb fry and duck rillette over the next 2-4 years. Fruit from Arthur's Vineyard, clones 5 & 6, pressed off after 18 days on skins, then aged in seasoned oak for 10 months. Unfined, unfiltered, no additions or adjustments. 148 cases of 6-packs produced. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Sep 2022 RRP $36
