Deep, ruby-red with a lighter, purple underlay and on the rim. The nose is soft and dusty, penetrating aromas of mulberries, cherries, hibiscus, underlying black tea fragrance and spice. The aromas slowly opened up and became sweeter in tone. Medium-bodied, aromas of mulberries, cherries have a taut core, entwined with hibiscus, earth, cinnamon, tea leaf and a hint of funk. Supple, dusty tannin softly coated the palate, reflecting cinnamon dusting and black tea tannin. Tangy acidity lifted the earthy palate with energy and vitality. This is an earthy Pinot Noir with natural, powdery tannin, balanced fruit and a tangy acid tension. Match with char siu bao and smoked duck over the next 3 years. Fruit from Arthur's Vineyard in Bannockburn, clones 5, 6 and 13, handpicked, destemmed, wild-fermented to 13% alc, on skins for 16 days, aged 9 months in old French oak barriques.
