Carrick Bannockburn Central Otago Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 22-Feb-2014
Mendoza and clone 6 fruit, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with high solids to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 15% new French oak barrels undergoing batonnage, with 70% MLF. Brilliant straw-yellow colour with light golden-green hues on rim. The bouquet is tightly packed with powerful and deep aromas of citrus and stonefruits infused with considerable flinty lees and minerally reductive complexities. The aromatics unfold in layers, revealing bacon and toasty oak interest. Medium-full bodied, densely concentrated flavours of citrus fruits, nuts, stonefruits and gunflint form a rich amalgam. The richness is enhanced by fresh acidity and the palate has poise and energy. The palate follows a very fine, dry-textured line, opening to show citrus, toast and flinty minerals with some lusciousness. This is a powerfully concentrated and complex Chardonnay combining citrus and stonefruits, toast and gunflint flavours. Match with roasted pork over the next 4-5 years. 460 dozen made. Certified BioGro organic. 18.5/20 Feb 2014 RRP $29.00
