Carrick Bannockburn Central Otago Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 30-Jun-2013
Mendoza and clone 6 fruit from the ‘Carrick’ vineyards, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with high solids content to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 12% new French oak, the wine undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF. Bright, even straw-yellow colour with some lemon hues, pale edged. The nose is elegant and restrained with gently interwoven aromatic layers of ripe stonefruits, citrus, mealy-nutty notes, butterscotch MLF and complexing flinty elements. Medium-bodied, a rich core with an amalgam of citrus fruits, butter, nuts and flint features on the palate. The acidity is well-integrated and the mouthfeel is creamy and smooth in texture. There is good power and drive which leads to a long, succulently rich and lively finish which blossoms with toast and nutty oak notes. This is a well-integrated, creamy-textured Chardonnay with layers of interest. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4-5 years. 900 cases made. 18.0+/20 Jul 2013 RRP $29.00
