Carpineto Chiant Classico DOCG 2012

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 24-Oct-2014
Even, dark ruby-red colour, lighter on rim. This has an elegant and slender bouquet, taut in concentration with aromas of red cherry fruit, leather, savoury dried herbs and earth. Sulphide nuances add interest. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegant in proportion and tightly bound showing bitter cherry fruit entwined with leather and earth. The fruit is supported by very fine, powdery tannin extraction providing a detailed and textural mouthfeel. Discreet acidity adds to the soft dryness on palate. The wine carries through with good energy and drive to a moderately long, elegant finish with dry, leather and cherry fruit notes. This is an elegant, fine-textured, dry Chianti Classico with dusty, leathery cherry fruit. Serve with veal and lamb, or semi-hard cheeses over the next 4 years. 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged for at least 6 months in oak. 17.0/20 Oct 2014 RRP $27.50
