Campos de Viento La Mancha Tempranillo 2012

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 12-Mar-2014
100% Tempranillo from the ‘Campos de Viento’ estate in La Mancha, fermented to 13.03% alc. and 3.7 g/L RS, and bottled without oak aging. Full, even, very dark ruby-red colour, with youthful purple hues. The nose is moderately full with ripe black and red berry fruit aromas, along with nuances of black earth and raspberry jam hints and a minerally heart. Dry and medium-bodied, the palate features a firm and concentrated core of sweet, dark red berry fruits with background raspberry and ripe jammy elements.. The sweetness is balanced by some tannin grip and framed by extract, providing a dry mouthfeel. Good acidity provides tension and energy that keeps the wine fresh and alive along to a grainy finish. This is a slightly textured, but sweet-fruited Tempranillo that will benefit from some time to come together more. Serve with roasted red meats and semi-hard cheeses over the next 3-4 years. 8,300 dozen made. 16.5+/20 Mar 2014 RRP $13.99
