Campos de Luz Carinena Garnacha Old Vine 2013

Grenache from Spain
Review Date : 16-Sep-2014
100% Garnacha from the ‘Campos de Luz’ estate, Carinena, fermented to 13.5% alc. And 3.3 g/L RS, the wine bottled without oaking. Black-hued ruby-red colour, near impenetrable, with youthful purple hues. The nose is tightly concentrated with bright primary raspberry fruit aromas underlined by intense dark herbal and peppery notes, along with savoury earthy elements that emerge in the glass. Medium-bodied, a soft, plush and juicy core of raspberry liqueur and plum fruits is the feature on palate. Dark herbal notes intermingle, and the wine follows a fine-grained dry, textural line which contains the fruit sweetness. The juicy, plummy fruit flavours possess good drive, leading to a moderately long finish with some grip and bright plum nuances. This is an up-front, sweet and juicy, raspberryish Garnacha with dark herbal flavours and some grip. Serve with pasta, poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. 79,000 cases made. 17.0/20 Sep 2014 RRP $13.99
