Cambridge Road ‘Dovetail’ Martinborough Field Blend 2011

Blended Red from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 05-Jul-2015
Full, dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with some garnet on edge. The has a finely presented, intensely concentrated and tightly bound nose of ripe black cherry and black berry fruits, infused with black pepper, liquorice and dark herbs. Nuances of plums, white pepper and black florals become revealed with time in the glass. Medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned, the palate features bright and vibrantly lively black berry and black peppery fruit along with mineral notes. The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannins providing an elegant structure, along with lively, fresh, poised acidity lending energy and tension. The palate has a concentrated core and line the carries through to a very long, luscious and lively black berry fruited and peppery finish. This is an elegant, tight and finely structured, vibrant black-fruited Pinot Noir and Syrah field blend. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 5-7 years. 71% Pinot Noir, clones 5, Abel and 6, and 29% MS clone Syrah, from the ‘Cambridge Road’ block, from vines 19-25 y.o., fermented with 15% whole bunches to 13.1% alc., the wine spending 21-24 days on skins and aged 12 months in 17% new French oak. 1,787 bottles made. 18.5/20 Jul 2015 RRP $60.00
