Calusari Viile Timis Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from Other
Review Date : 28-Aug-2013
‘Calusari’ is a brand of the Cramele Recas vineyard and winery in the Transylvania/Banat region, Romania. Fruit from the ‘Dealul Uberland’ vineyard, 75% destemmed and fermented to 13.0% alc., and aged 6 months with light wood contact. The remaining 25% underwent carbonic maceration. Moderately dark ruby-red colour with some depth, youthful in appearance. The nose is light with fresh, up-front dark red berry fruits along with notes of seasoned, resinous oak and herbal elements. Light-medium bodied, soft and mellow fruit flavours of red berry fruit and tamarillos are interwoven with savoury herb, earth and resiny detail. The fruit is supported soft, modest tannin extraction that lends a dryness to balance the fruit sweetness. The acidity is discreet, but provides good energy which carries though to a dry, firm finish. This is a light, textural Pinot Noir with some fruit sweetness. Match with antipasto and poultry over the next 2-3 years. 15.5+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $13.99
