Calabria ‘Three Bridges’ Riverina Durif 2013

Other Red from Australia - NSW
Review Date : 06-May-2015
Very full, saturated black-hued purple-red colour. The nose is fresh with vibrant and bold primary aromas of ripe blackberries, boysenberries and dark raspberry fruit entwined with some tar, earth and mineral detail. The aromatics build in depth and volume with aeration. Full-bodied, fresh, up-front and bold flavours of black and blue berried fruits are enriched by raspberry elements. The fruit is encased by fulsome, grainy tannin structure, and enlivened by fresh acidity. Oaking is sensitive and integrated with the fruit. This is robust but accessible in presentation with a good core carrying the wine to a long, dry, firm finish. This is a fulsome, upfront, bold and vibrant, black-fruited Durif with plenty of grip and structure. Match with slow-cooked game meat over the next 6+ years. Fruit from the Riverina fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 100% American oak hogsheads and barriques, approx. 65% new. 18.0/20 May 2015 RRP $19.50
