Cable Bay ‘Reserve’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 30-May-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is tightly bound and slender in presentation with taut, but delicate aromas of gooseberries, cut grass and minerals, along with gently interwoven nuances of green stonefruits, the oaking near imperceptible. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is crisp and tightly bound with light and lively, uncomplicated flavours of cut grass, gooseberries and nettles, along with mouthwatering minerals. The oak is very subtle, adding delicately to the fruit presence and richness. The wine follows a very fine-textured line and possesses good fresh acid cut and energy, leading to a sustained finish with grassy and nettle flavours and a fine grip. This is an elegant and tight, grassy Sauvignon Blanc with very subtle oak inputs and fine textures. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3 years. Fruit from the ‘Rocky’ vineyard barrel-fermented with indigenous yeasts to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 month in French oak. 17.0-/20 Jun 2016 RRP $28.00
