Cable Bay Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 22-Aug-2013
Fruit from ‘Northburn Station’, Bendigo, hand-picked and transported to the Cable Bay Waiheke Island winery, destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged in Frebch oak barriques. Medium deep ruby-red colour, lighter on rim. The nose is elegant with tightly bound aromas of dark cherries, kirsch and red florals, with a fine underlay of liquorice, dark herbs and minerals that unfold with detail and interest. Medium-full bodied, the fruit expression is shy and restrained, slowly revealing savoury dark red cherry fruit flavours interwoven with herbs and minerals. Sweet and subtly succulent raspberry and red liquorice notes emerge from the core. The fruit is supported by fine, grainy tannins, crisp acidity, and some alcohol warmth that carries the palate to a dry finish. This is a tightly bound Pinot Noir with a dark cherry core and dry, grainy textures. Match with Mediterranean-themed cuisine over the next 4+ years. 17.0+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $36.00
