Cable Bay Awatere Valley Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 12-Jan-2015
Full, even straw-yellow colour with a light golden-blush hue, lighter on edge. The nose is full and voluminous with an aromatic core of ripe yellow stonefruit kernels entwined with nutty, minerally lees elements, opening to show florals and savoury honeysuckle notes. Dry to taste and full-bodied, the palate features clear and precise flavours of yellow stonefruits lifted with floral notes. The mouthfeel is bright and fresh with crisp acidity and the fruit follows a fine, textural thread and line. The alcohol presence and power emerges to drive the wine to a strong and positive, long, lingering finish. This is a crisp and focussed dry Pinot Gris with powerful drive and full body. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Redwood Pass Road’ vineyard cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.6% alc. and 1.1 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on lees. 18.0-/20 Jan 2014 RRP $20.90
