Butterworth Te Muna Sauvignon Blanc 2019, Martinborough

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 21-Apr-2021
Bright, pale yellow-gold with some depth, even colour throughout. The nose is softly full with elegant complexity, nuances of citrus, pineapple, wild herbs melded with flint. Medium-bodied, attractive aromas of citrus, pineapple and mango interweave spicy herbs, flint and creamy lees. The fruit has concentration and a tropical profile suggest fully-ripened fruit, supported by mouthwatering acidity, leaves a vibrant and fresh finish. Subtle spicy herbs and flint added interest, along with an elegant, fine-textured phenolic line. This is a vibrant, youthful, elegant Sauvignon Blanc with tropical flavours, barrel-fermented complexities on a fine-textured mouthfeel. Match with asparagus with hollandaise and lemon chicken over the next 5 years. Fruit from Butterworth's Julicher Vineyard on Te Muna Road, handpicked, fermented in oak French oak barrels to 13.5% alc, <3 g/l RS. Left on gross lees for 11 months, no stirring, no malo. Vegan friendly. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Apr 2021 RRP $30
