Even ruby-red colour with some garnet hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is soft and even with aromas of savoury red berry fruit along with undergrowth and dried herb detail that unfold in the glass. Medium-bodied, plush and juicy flavours of red berry fruits gently build with notes of dried herbs and spices. Soft, supple tannins underline the fruitiness and the acidity lies in the background, allowing the fruit to feature. The flavours follow a seamless palate line to a sustained, succulent and mellow finish. This is a smooth and gently juicy Pinot Noir with savoury red berry fruit flavours typical of the Martinborough district. Serve with Mediterranean-influenced poultry dishes over the next 4+ years. Clones 667 and 777, hand-picked and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak barriques. 17.5+/20 Dec 2012 RRP $39.00
