Darkish ruby-red colour, youthful. The bouquet is very fine and elegantly proportioned with tightly bound fragrant floral and cherry-fruited perfumes. Some whole berry fermentation lift shows, and subtle savoury whole cluster elements under the primary fruit. An elegant and medium-bodied wine, aromatically lifted red cherry, berry and floral flavours are the feature. The structure is refined with very fine-grained tannins and fresh, bright acidity. The mouthfeel is supple and the sweetness providing the balance, enhancing the accessibility of the wine. This is a beautifully fragrant wine, lightest of the tasting, showing some cooler aspects, but is very pretty for it. 5+ years. Winemaker: Claire Mulholland. 18.5/20 Jan 2014 RRP $TBA The new release wine. An even usage of different blocks, led by 7 West, 6 & 8, 1 and 4. Fermented with 10% whole bunches to 13.2% alc., the wine spending 15 days on skins and aged in 25% new French oak. 2,050 6-packs made. Very dark, deep ruby-red with black hues and youthful purple on rim. The bouquet is one of finesse, intensity and purity of black cherry fruits. Violetty perfumes and mineral notes unfold adding layers, and the oaking and whole bunch input very discrete. Medium-bodied, sweet black cherry fruit flavours are entwined with sweet dark raspberry notes and form a very tight, well-concentrated and slender core. The tannins are very fine-grained and add to the concentrated mouthfeel and line. Refined textures and a silky smooth flow are complemented by fine acidity and energy, the laciness carrying the palate to a seamless, aromatic finish. This is a refined and beautifully aromatic expression with the freshness of a cooler vintage. This should develop well over the next 6-7+ years. 18.5+/20  Jan 2014 RRP $TBA
