Brown Brothers ‘Patricia’ Heathcote Shiraz 2009

Syrah from Australia - Victoria
Review Date : 01-Sep-2014
Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has a softly concentrated and densely packed bouquet of ripe dark berry fruit with savoury dried herb, earth and peppery layers, along with savoury eucalypt and minty elements and oak toast. Full-bodied, intensely packed, penetrating and mouthfilling flavours of dark raspberries, plums and pepper are lifted by nuances of eucalypt and liquorice. The fruit is succulent and sweetly ripe, and infused with spicy and cedary oak, and the palate is supported by fine-grained, substantial tannin extraction. Alcohol power is present and drives the rich flavours to a very long, warm, lingering finish of raspberries spices and cedar. Showing distinctive dried herb elements on bouquet, this full, sweetly rich Shiraz has raspberry, plum, spice and cedary flavours. Match with roasted beef and lamb dishes over the next 7-9+ years. Predominantly Shiraz from the company’s Heathcote vineyard with a small portion of Viognier from the King Valley, fermented to 14.5% alc., the fermentation finished in barrel, and the wine aged 18-20 months in 52% new American and French oak barriques and puncheons. 18.5+/20 Sep 2014 RRP $55.00
