Brown Brothers ‘18 Eighty Nine’ Victoria Tempranillo 2013

Tempranillo from Australia - Victoria
Review Date : 20-Nov-2014
The Brown Brothers Tempranillo grape and wine style was developed in the ‘Kindergarten Winery. Fruit 63% from Banksdale and 37% Heathcote vineyards, fermented to 14.0% alc., a small portion of the wine aged several months in seasoned oak. Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with lighter purple edge, youthful in appearance. The nose is soft with fresh primary fruit aromas of raspberries with savoury red cherries, lifted by jammy whole berry fermentation confectionary elements and nuances of herbs. Medium-bodied, bright, aromatic fruit flavours of raspberries, herbs and jam feature on the palate, showing whole berry fermentation. The palate follows a light grainy line with fresh, balanced acidity driven a little by the alcohol. The wine leads to a grainy-textured, juicy finish. This is an up-front, juicy, jammy raspberry-fruited Tempranillo with grainy textures and good drive. Serve with pasta, pizza and barbecued fare over the next 3+ years. 17.0/20 Nov 2014 RRP $19.99
