Brookfields ‘Reserve Vintage’ Hawke’s Bay Cabernet/Merlot 2013

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 11-Dec-2014
80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 100% new French oak. Near impenetrable black-red colour with youthful purple hues. This has an elegantly proportioned nose with real depth and density of beautifully ripened blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, along with dark plums, integrated with subtle waves of aromatic spices, oak toast and nuances of vanilla and cedar. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly proportioned and presented with a concentrated core of sweetly ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and plum fruit. The flavours are stylishly restrained and the palate exudes finesse and class, with a suggestion of opulence and shine from the oak toast. Very fine-grained, supple tannins provide satin-like structure and considerable support, while allowing the fruit to feature. The wine leads to a very long, lively, sweet-fruited finish with oak spicing. This is an elegant and refined, but rich Cabernet/Merlot with the structure and balance to develop 10+ years. Serve with roast lamb and beef, and semi-hard cheeses. 19.0+/20 Dec 2014 RRP $60.00 Sold Out
