Brookfields ‘Ohiti Estate’ Hawke’s Bay Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 05-Dec-2017
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, a little lighter on the rim and youthful in appearance. The nose is elegantly proportioned with good depth and intensity of ripe blackcurrant fruit with notes of cassis and dark herbs, unfolding blackberry nuances. The fruit is expressed with purity and clarity, and builds in concentration with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has deep flavours of sweetly ripe blackcurrants along with notes of cassis and dark herbs. The fruit is balanced by supple, fine-grained tannin extraction and integrated acidity. The mouthfeel is harmonious, and has good presence, and the wine carries to an elegant, lingering finish. This is a medium-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with clear blackcurrant and cassis flavours with cassis and herbs, on a balanced, supple palate with a good heart and fine structure. Match with roast lamb, beef and venison over the next 5-6 years. The first crop of LC10 clone fruit from the ‘Ohiti Estate’ fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 3 weeks on skins and aged in French and American oak, a small portion new. 17.5+/20 Dec 2017 RRP $20.00
