Brookfields Marshell Bank Chardonnay 2020, Hawke’s Bay

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 29-Sep-2021
Bright, moderate straw-yellow, even colour throughout. The nose is elegantly full, lifting gentle nutty aromas interweave toasted brioche, spices and stonefruit, melon and citrus. Medium-full bodied, aromas of melon, nectarine and greengage are ripe, followed by toasted almonds, brioche and barrel spices. The fruit is ripe and balanced, barrel spices and toastiness enriched the flavour and complexity. Brilliant acidity provides great energy and flow to a rich palate and vitality. This is a harmonious Chardonnay with rich fruit and well-proportioned richness from toasty barrels and spices and bright acidity. Match with crayfish and roasted chicken over the next 5+ years. Fruit from Ohiti Estate, handpicked, whole bunch pressed, indigenous yeast fermented 50/50 in new French oak and near new barriques to 14% alc, regular lees stirred, 20% MLF, aged 10 months in barrels. Vegan friendly. 19/20 pts (95 pts) Sept 2021 RRP $37
