Even ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The bouquet is full with bright, vibrant and aromatic dark-red berry and plum fruit with subtle notes of redcurrants and blackcurrants and herb elements adding detail. The nose builds in depth with aeration. Full-bodied, the palate features soft, plush and rich, juicy fruit with stylishly restrained flavours of dark-red berry, plum and redcurrants. The fruit sweetness is balanced by fine-grained extraction and softly fresh acidity. The tannin grip grows in presence and carries the wine to a textural, dry finish with light berry and plum flavours. This is a bright, juicy, up-front plum and berry-fruited Merlot with plenty of tannin grip that provides plenty of presence and carries the wine to a dry finish. Match with lamb, beef and hard cheeses over the next 5+ years. ‘Burnfoot’ is Scottish for a field with an adjacent stream. Fruit from a north-facing slope in the Tuki Tuki Valley, the property bordering the Tuki Tuki river. Fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine given 3 weeks maceration and aged in French and American oak. 17.5/20 Oct 2016 RRP $21.00
