Brookfields ‘Bergman’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 17-Oct-2016
Bright, light golden-hued yellow colour with some depth, lighter edged. This has a fresh, tight nose with an elegantly concentrated core of steely yellow stonefruits with subtle savoury citrus fruit notes, nutty elements and flinty detail. Some creamy barrel-ferment shows with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fresh and crisp with a tightly concentrated palate with a heart of steely white and yellow stonefruits, with citrus fruit notes, unfolding creamy barrel-ferment elements. Nutty and flinty detail emerges as the wine flows along a fine-textured line. Integrated acidity provides energy and drive, and the wine leads to a fresh, mouthwatering, steely stonefruited finish alongside nutty oak. This is a tightly concentrated, steely, white stonefruited Chardonnay with subtle creamy and nutty oak detail and a fresh mouthfeel. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 3-4 years. Named after the ‘Ingrid Bergman’ roses at the end of the vine rows on the driveway in to the winery. Fruit from the estate ‘Ohiti’ and ‘Home’ blocks, fermented in French oak with a small percentage of American oak to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months on lees in oak with approx. 15% MLF. 17.0+/20 Oct 2016 RRP $21.00
