Brodie Estate Martinborough Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 23-Aug-2016
Bright, even yellow colour with lemon-gold hues at the heart, lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly concentrated and tightly bound with fresh citrus and yellow stonefruit aromas, showing good depth and intensity with subtle spicy oak notes, savoury detail and a suggestion of toast. Light-medium bodied, the palate is finely concentrated with flavours of citrus and yellow stonefruits with subtly lifted nutty and spicy oak and savoury seasoned oak elements. The mouthfeel is fresh with soft creamy barrel-ferment notes, balanced by fresh acidity. The palate flows along a fine line with a good core, leading to a light, refreshing citrussy and nutty finish. This is an elegant, citrussy and nutty Chardonnay with a soft, but fresh palate and line. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 3+ years. Clone Mendoza and 15 fruit in equal proportions from the ‘Arapai’ vineyard, on Pirinoa Road fermented in a 1 y.o. puncheon and six barriques, one of which was new to 12.5% alc., the wine spending 8 months on lees with partial MLF. 17.5/20 Aug 2016 RRP $30.00
