Brightwater Vineyards Nelson Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 27-Feb-2016
Dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues and good depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh and bright with bold, vibrantly rich aromas of dark red cherry and berry fruit with raspberry liqueur notes and nuances of dark herbs and liquorice. The fruit grows in depth with aeration. Medium-full bodied, bright, lively and sweetly rich flavours of dark cherry and raspberries are supported and balanced by grainy, but accessible tannins and enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The mouthfeel is open and well-textured with plenty of presence and grip. Nuances of liquorice, herbs and violet florals emerge to add interest, and the wine is carried by the structure to a fine-textured, dry finish with raspberry fruit notes. This is a vibrantly juicy, dark raspberry-fruited accessible Pinot Noir with structure and freshness. Serve with poultry and pork, and with Asian fare over the next 4-5+ years. Fruit from the ‘Ranzau Road’ vineyard, destemmed and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 25% new French oak barriques. 18.5/20 Feb 2016 RRP $35.00
