Brightwater Vineyards Nelson Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 22-Jan-2014
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour, lighter on edge. The nose is firmly concentrated and tightly restrained in expression, showing aromas of dark red berry fruits with minerally, reduction and oak toast-like elements. Medium-full bodied, tightly held and concentrated flavours of dark red berry fruit are the feature on palate. The fruit sits alongside earthy reduction and toasty notes providing a dense, savoury heart. The mouthfeel is fine and grainy with balanced acidity forming good structural support and carries the flavours to a dry, grainy finish. This is a fine and firmly structured Pinot Noir with reduction complexity. Match with coq au vin and casseroles over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from Ranzau Road, Hope, hand-picked, destemmed, given a cold soak, and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in French oak barriques. 17.0/20 Jan 2014 RRP $25.00
