Brightwater Vineyards Nelson Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 04-Oct-2016
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the edge. This has a softly concentrated and well-packed nose of white stonefruits along with complexing nutty elements and suggestions of flinty and minerally lees, unfolding white floral and honeysuckle notes. Medium-dry in taste and medium-bodied, soft and reserved, but succulent fruit flavours of white stonefruits, honeysuckle and white florals show with nuances of flinty lees notes. The mouthfeel is rich and rounded, and balanced by fresh, lacy acidity, and the wine carries smoothly along a fine-textured line leading to a concentrated finish of white stonefruits and honeysuckle. This is a subtly rich, reserved, off-dry Pinot Gris with white stonefruit, honeysuckle and minerally flavours on a smooth-flowing palate. Match with Asian cuisine over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 15 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on lees. 17.5/20 Oct 2016 RRP $22.00
