Brightwater Vineyards ‘Lord Rutherford’ Nelson Barrique Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 29-Feb-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with pale green hues, lighter edged. This has a very fresh and intense nose with deep cooler spectrum aromas of cut grass, nettles and gooseberry fruit interwoven with lantana, green stonefruits and herbs, revealing subtle flinty and nutty oak notes. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features soft, plush and juicy fruit flavours of cut grass, gooseberries, tropical fruits and green stonefruits. The mouthfeel is harmoniously presented and balanced with fine textures and refreshing, lacy acidity. The wine is slippery in flow and has a degree of unctuousness, the elegant core leading to a moderately sustained finish of stonefruits, herbs and nuts. This is a plush and gently rich, smooth-flowing, subtly oaked Sauvignon Blanc with cut grass, gooseberry and stonefruit flavours. Serve with herb marinated seafood and poultry dishes over the next 3 years. Made from fruit from the ‘Home’ vineyard, fully barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 6 months in seasoned French oak, undergoing batonnage and partial MLF. 17.5/20 Feb 2016 RRP $30.00
