Brennan Gibbston Central Otago Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 07-Jan-2017
Full, bright, light golden-straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh with gently full aromas of yellow stonefruits harmoniously melded with notes of herbs and nuts, and mouthwatering mineral elements at the core, unfolding yellow florals and honeysuckle. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features gently mouthfilling flavours of yellow stonefruits integrated with yellow florals, honeysuckle and nuts. The mouthfeel is rounded and has good presence, and is underlined by fresh acidity. The wine carries easily with underlying drive to a moderately sustained, accessible finish. This is a softly mouthfilling dryish Pinot Gris with yellow stonefruit, honeysuckle and floral flavours and good palate presence. Match with poultry and pork over the next 3+ years. Mission clone fruit from the ‘Pylon’ and ‘Highgate’ blocks, hand-picked, WBP and 65% stainless-steel fermented with 35% fermented in French oak to 14.0% alc. and 9 g/L RS, the wine aged 4.5 months in 14% new oak. 180 dozen made. 17.5/20 Jan 2017 RRP $25.00
