Brennan B2 Pinot Noir 2021, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 01-Feb-2023
Dark ruby-red with depth, lighter on the rim. This has a herbaceous overlay, penetrating earth, floral, spice, black raspberries and sour cherries. Medium-bodied, earthy aromas melded with thyme, liquorice, hibiscus, cherry, black raspberry and nutmeg. Powdery tannin extraction emphasises the herbaceous elements; the fruit shows concentration and balanced acidity. This accessible Pinot Noir possesses cherry and black raspberry fruit with savoury and herbaceous elements that linger to a moderately long, spiced finish. Match with lamb burger and duck rillette over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from Gibbston, fermented with 25% whole bunches to 13.3% alc, aged 11 months, 37% new French oak. Unfined, unfiltered. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Feb 2023 RRP $38
