Breaksea Sound Central Otago Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 12-Sep-2012
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with purple hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is tight and firm, with depth, showing black cherry fruits with some thyme herb notes, minerals and a hint of reduction. Medium-bodied, this has good depth of concentrated black berry and cherry fruits intermixed with earth and dark herbal flavours. The palate is dry and firmly packed with good tannin extraction adding to the body. The acidity is restrained, and the palate flows smoothly, carrying through to a moderately long, dry, textural finish with flavours of black plums, liquorice and earth. This is a dry, firmly packed Pinot Noir with black fruit flavours. Serve with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean red meat fare over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from Bendigo vineyards, mostly hand-picked and fully destemmed, then fermented to 13.5% alc., a portion aged in seasoned oak barrels. 17.5-/20 Sep 2012 RRP $19.99
