Brancott Estate ‘Terroir Series’ Southern Valley Marlborough Fumé Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Feb-2015
Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues. The nose is tight and restrained in expression with elegant aromas of nectarines and greengages entwined with fresh herbs and white florals, along with nutty, smoky oak elements. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of green stonefruits are light and well-bound with subtle layers of barrel-ferment nuttiness, minerals and flinty lees. The palate has good vinosity and presence, forming a good core with fine, background textures. Fresh lacy acid vitality underlines the palate leading to a soft, dry finish. This is an elegant, oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with restrained stonefruit and minerally flavours. Match with herb-marinated seafood and poultry dishes over the next 3+ years. The wine flows Southern Valleys fruit fully fermented in oak with solids to 13.3% alc. and 2.2 g/L RS, the wine ages 4 months in barrel on lees. 17.0+/20 Feb 2015 RRP $19.95
