Brancott Estate ‘Reflection’ ‘Limited Edition’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Oct-2017
Dark, deep ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is powerfully concentrated and deeply concentrated with vibrant aromas of dark-red and black berried fruits with subtle notes of raspberry liqueur and dark-red florals entwined with a complex amalgam of dark herbs, black minerals, a suggestion of reduction, and nutty and spicy oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate has rich and vibrant flavours of dark-red and black berried fruits with raspberry notes, melded with a complex layering of dark herbs, minerals and nutty oak. The fruit has vitality and energy, and is underlined by considerable fine-grained, flowery tannin extraction with integrated acidity. The palate has impressive concentration, intensity and finesse with excellent linearity, leading to a very long, lingering finish of dark-red and black fruits, minerals and oak. This is a rich, vibrant, concentrated Pinot Noir with great finesse, depth and considerable extract, and layers of interest. Match with pork, lamb, beef and venison dishes over the next 7-9 years. Pinot Noir fruit from the ‘Brancott’ vineyard, from 15 y.o. vines, hand-picked, destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.4% alc., the wine spending 23 days on skins and aged 18 months in 36% new French oak barriques. RRP $80.00
