Brancott Estate ‘Letter Series – R’ Marlborough Sauvignon Gris 2011

Other White from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-Apr-2013
Sauvignon Gris fruit from the ‘Brancott’ and ‘Renwick’ (after which this wine is named) vineyards in the Wairau Valley as well as from the southern Awatere Valley, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 2.4 g/L rs. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with some green hues. This has an intense and well packed, solid nose of ripe capsicum fruits with herbal and yellow floral notes. Dry to taste, this is full-bodied and mouthfilling with flavours of ripe gooseberries, herbs and capsicums, and hints of savoury bean-like development appearing. The palate is openly accessible with some lusciousness and soft textures balanced by moderate acid freshness. The flavours are carried by the phenolics to a soft, rounded and easy finish with moderate length. This is a full and flavoursome, accessible Sauvignon Gris with gooseberry fruit flavours and soft bottle development notes beginning to appear. Match with Mediterranean cuisine over the next 2 years. 17.5+/20 Apr 2013 RRP $37.99
