Brancott Estate ‘Identity’ Awatere Valley Marlborough Pinot Gris 2018

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Sep-2018
Bright straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of blush, lighter on the rim. The nose is softly fresh and gently packed with aromas of exotic florals and citrus fruits, white and yellow stonefruits, along with subtle notes of pears and a hint of honeysuckle, unfolding mineral notes. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has light but positive flavours of exotic florals, white and yellow stonefruits, and notes of pears and honeysuckle. The flavours are restrained in expression but the palate has weight and presence, with the fine fruit core showing linearity. A little unctuousness is apparent which carries the wine to a light, nuanced finish. This is a soft and gently flavoured dryish Pinot Gris with exotic floral and stonefruit flavours with pear and honeysuckle on a palate with good presence. Serve with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese fare over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the company’s ‘Triplebank’ and ‘Terraces’ vineyards, vines 14-18 y.o., fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 8.8 g/L RS. 17.5-/20 Sep 2018 RRP $21.99
