Brancott Estate ‘Flight’ Waipara Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 15-Oct-2013
Bright, pale staw-yellow with some green hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet of soft and fresh with elegant aromas of lime fruit, apples, fresh herbs and exotic florals. Medium dry to medium in taste and light-bodied, gentle and near ethereal flavours of limes and flowers are lifted with exotic fruits and esters. The mouthfeel is smooth-flowing and soft in texture, with a delicate phenolic line emerging. Fine, lacy acidity is in support and provides good liveliness, freshness and energy, and carries the flavours to a soft, lingering finish with sherbet and lime notes. This is a soft and gentle medium Riesling with delicate exotic aromas and flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with subtle Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. Machine-harvested fruit from Waipara Valley sites in Glasnevin Gravels and Salix Clays, given some skin contact and cool-fermented to 9.0% alc. and 24.3 g/L RS, with 7.5 g/L TA and a pH of 3.04. 17.5-/20 Oct 2013 RRP $26.99
