Brancott Estate ‘25th Jubilee Guest’ Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 24-Sep-2014
Bright pale straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of blush, pale edged. This has a light, tight and fresh nose with subtle aromas of white stonefruits and steely white florals, unfolding exotic perfumes and spices, building in depth with aeration. Medium to medium-dry in taste and light-bodied, gently luscious and succulent, up-front fruit flavours of white stonefruits, pears, aromatic florals and honeysuckle feature on the palate. The fruit richness and residual sugar provide the mouthfeel with a degree of unctuousness, with background acidity lending freshness and liveliness. The wine flows smoothly, leading to a light, dry, delicately textured finish. This is a soft, aromatic and gently luscious medium Pinot Gris with a light, dry finish. Serve as an aperitif, with tapas and Asian fare over the next 3+ years. MS clone fruit, predominantly from the company’s inland ‘Matapiro’ vineyard, from 10 y.o. vines, cool-fermented to 12.0% alc. and 13 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on light lees. 17.5/20 Sep 2014 RRP $17.29
