Bousquet des Papes ‘Chante le Merle’ Chateauneuf du Pape 2006

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 03-Sep-2011
Medium deep garnet-ruby red with a little orange on edge, this has a very fine, pure aromatic nose of bright red berry fruits along with notes of earth and spicy-cedar underneath, quite elegant and tightly bound still. A wine of classy proportions, spicy red berry fruit flavours, still quite primary in expression, are supported by very fine-grained tannins providing a sleek and slender structure. This is a medium-scale wine of balance and has the potential to develop with elegance and interest over the next 7-9+ years.  Aug 2011
