Bouldevines Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2011

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Nov-2011
Fourth crop from young vines on the SW corner of the ‘Bouldevines' site, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 7.3 g/L rs. Bright straw-yellow colour with a pale edge, the bouquet is very fine and elegant, yet has intense aromas of rose petal florals laced with herbs and minerals. This provides a steeliness to the purity on the nose. Off-dry, there is good body and depth, the flavours of Turkish Delight and exotic florals forming an excellent core to the palate. This is very fine-textured and smooth, near oily, in mouthfeel, and there is a little warmth driving the length. The finish has flavours of ginger and herbs and lingers. Still tightly concentrated, the fine, building flavours and purity of fruit are features. Match with poultry and pork dishes as well as semi-hard cheeses over the next 3-4 years. 18.5-/20 Nov 2011 RRP $24.95
