Bouldevines Marlborough Chardonnay 2008

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-Feb-2011
Made from the 2/23 clone which is Mendoza re-selected to offset poor berry set. Around 50% barrel-fermented to 14.5% alc., partial MLF conversion, the wine was aged 10 months in French oak barrels. Bright, light golden straw yellow in colour, the bouquet combines fresh citrusy fruit that show youth, with complex mealy, nutty elements from the oak and beginnings of development. On palate a full-bodied wine, a touch of alcohol showing. Lovely zingy citrus fruits on attack, but lovely creamy, unctuous textures from the barrel-fermentation in support and in fact carrying the mid-palate and finish. Oak and malo characters come through and make the wine complete. A great match with pork dishes. 18.5/20 Nov 2010 RRP $27.00
