Bonpas ‘Sieur Alphonse’ Gigondas 2010

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 11-Apr-2012
Moderately deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is moderately full with soft, savoury red cherry aromas with dried herb, earth and slight nutty oxidative notes. Fullish-bodied, the flavours are subdued, with sour cherry and raspberry fruits on a fulsome, soft-textured palate. The acidity is a little low, and tannins drying, but there is presence and weight. Dried herb and savoury red fruit flavours show gently on the finish. Grenache and Syrah fermented to 14.0% alc. Restrained in expression and a little drying, this is tending a little flat in expression, but the body and weight are substantial. Serve with casseroles and roasted red meat over the next 3-4+ years. 15.5/20 Apr 2012 RRP $N/A
