Bohemian Lowburn/Gibbston Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 03-Oct-2011
Clone 6 fruit from vines with an average age of 10 y.o., from Lowburn, Gibbston and Bannockburn 100% destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 14.3% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 20% new French oak. Fullish ruby-red with good depth and youthful purple hues to the colour, this has a fresh dark cherry fruited nose with elements of dark, savoury herbs, minerals and violetty perfumes. Medium-full bodied, the palate shows bright, lightly spiced, dark red berry and cherry fruit flavours underscored by lively, fresh acidity and fine-grained tannins. The freshness and vibrancy of the fruit is the feature, supported by delicate herb and subtle oaking. Attractive dark berry fruit and savoury herb nuances show on the dry, tine textured finish. A vibrantly fruit wine with fine grip and subtle herb interest to match with Mediterranean cuisine over the next 4-5+ years. 17.5+/20 Oct 2011 RRP $36.95
