Bohemian Havelock Hills Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2010

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 03-Oct-2011
Deep ruby-red in colour, youthful in appearance, this has a soft, full bouquet of redcurrants and herbs overlaid by toasty oak, the nose with a good, deep core. Medium-full bodied, toasty, cedary oak is prevalent, with redcurrant fruit flavours underneath, forming a mint-chocolate amalgam. The acidity is fresh and combined with the tannin extraction, forms a firm, but fine textured line to a moderately sustained finish with toasty oak and herb notes. Fruit from 15 y.o. vines from the hillside ‘Havelock Hills' vineyard, 50% crushed and fermented to 14.3% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 30% new French oak. A fine, firm wine with elegant, currant and minty fruit and prominent oak toasting to match with barbecued and grilled, herb-marinated lamb over the next 4-5 years. 16.0+/20 Oct 2011 RRP $23.95
