Bodegas Virgen del Aguila ‘Agoston’ Carinena Garnacha/Syrah 2010

Blended Red from Spain
Review Date : 22-May-2012
Very dark, deep, black-red colour with some purple hues. This has a soft nose of ripe raspberry fruits with some red floral perfumes and confectionary notes along with nuances of minerals, earth and resin. Medium-bodied and dryish to taste, the upfront, juicy flavours of ripe raspberries show the Garnacha base. There is a bon-bon element which adds to the sweetness. The tannin extraction is restrained and allows the soft fruitiness fill the palate, with good acidity providing freshness and liveliness. This is an easy-drinking, sweet and lively, raspberry-flavoured red wine to serve with pasta, pizza and Mediterranean fare over the next 2-3 years. An equal blend of Garnacha and Syrah from vineyards in Carinena 700 m a.s.l., fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 2 months in American and French oak. 16.0+/20 May 2012 RRP $12.99
