Bodegas Muriel ‘Rey del Mundo’ Rioja Crianza Tempranillo 2013

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 27-Sep-2016
Even ruby-red colour with some depth, paler edged. The nose is finely concentrated with a good heart of savoury dark raspberry and cherry fruit, unfolding subtle notes of herbs and earth, along with nutty and spicy oak elements. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly proportioned with a refined, tight core of savoury dark cherry and raspberry fruit melded with soft layers of earth and spice, and nutty, aromatic oak. Fine-grained tannins underline the fruit, and integrated acidity provides good energy, the wine carrying to a tightly bound, lingering finish with red fruits and sweet and spicy oak. This is an elegant, tight and concentrated Rioja with savoury dark red fruits, and subtle earth and spicy oak notes. Match with tapas, antipasto and barbecued food over the next 3+ years. 100% Tempranillo fro Rioja Alavesa, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 35% new French and American oak. Winemaker: Javier Murua. 17.0/20 Sep 2016 RRP $27.00
